Daniel Swarovski (1862 - 1956)
Daniel Swarovski was born 24.10.1862 in Jiřetín pod Bukovou (Georgenthal bei Gablonz) in northern Bohemia, in a family of glass cutter F.A.Swarovski. He used to work in a workroom of his father, where he loved to experiment with crystal-grinding. His thought led him to create new technologies and pushed forward rising of new machines (foot working grinding stones replaced by electric-engine ones). In 1892 he framed a new mechanical electric grinding stone (using water power of Kamenice river), which we took out a patent for. In age of 33 Daniel Swarovski decided to move his factory to Wattens to Tyrol, closed to Innsbruck. Inn River enabled him to use hydroelectricity for mass glass grinding and polishing.  He had patented energy-intensive grinding processes.
Prestige of Swarovski Factory rose up and it was always insisted on high quality and innovation. Since 1911 also Mr.Swarovski´s sons  - Wilhelm, Friedrich and Alfred - started to participated in the company.
The Swarovski Crystal range includes crystal jewellery, miniatures, sculptures, home decor and chandeliers.
Since 1988 the company uses logo of swan, which replaced the original edelweiss flower.

The most known technology called ‘AB’ was created in 1956 in co-operation with Christian Dior Company. Special metallic chemical coating with Aurora Borealis, allows the light refract in a rainbow spectrum and crystals’ surface gets a rainbow oil slick appearance. Among the other technologies belong Crystal Transmission, Volcano, Aurum, and Dorado. Coatings may be applied to only part of an object; others are coated twice, and thus are designated AB 2X, Dorado 2X etc.
In 2004 Swarovski released Xilion, a new copyrighted cut designed to optimise the brilliance of Roses (crystal components with flat backs) and Chatons (diamond cut).

Since 2007 the company uses CYSTALLIZET -SWROVSKI ELEMENTS name.
